Guilt about shareware.

From the first time I heard the term "share-ware," I was interested. Now, many of my favorite programs are shareware, but I can't bring myself to register.

I've done everything I can to weasel out of shareware terms. I'm awfully guilty about it because I've gotten so much value out of these programs, but I'm too damned tight to part with any money.

Footnote: Actually I did register one program, called "Neverlock," back in the early 1990's in order to copy other games. :)

Anyhow, I have no money now, still in school, but I plan someday to be a great benefactor of shareware writers.

That's my confession.

	Actually, I think that you can do pretty well without a single piece of shareware on your computer. Just learn some programming language like I did! Today, I'm coding most of the tools I need by myself! For example a high-quality strategy game? 	Obviously not since he can't even spell it right. It's Perl not PERL or Pearl.

	If the high point in your life was sitting infront of a computer in a dark room then I truly pity you. Personally my favorite times were playing soccer with friends all afternoon. Or building forts out of drift wood. Or swimming in the river and eatting fresh pineapple slices afterwards.

	Who said anything about a "high point"? Actually, more like "low point", which is why I remember it so vividly. Much more vividly, in fact, than the typical childhood stuff. (Like climbing trees or swimming in rivers or whatnot.) -- Peace and much love...

	I got addicted to the stuff once. It wasn't pretty. I couldn't bring myself to download the crackz, so I reinstalled Windows® every 30 days to get past the time limits. I told myself that it was just a temporary arrangement until I got the cash. That's how I rationalized it, but in my heart, I knew it was a lie. It took me a long time to quit, but I'm better now.
