Anyone who's paid any atteniont probably has heard about the numerous problems found in WindowsXP and other new Microsoft software offerings.

I recently came across the article while checking up on a little tech news at The Register.

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN
Apparently Microsoft, for the last two weeks, has been having some trouble with its network. In the last couple of days that problem annoyed many users when they tried to download the latest patches from update.microsoft.com and other such sites.

The part of the article that really made me laugh was an excerpt from a letter from a supposed Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Obviously it wasn't the MCP part that was funny, since it is a real certification. What was funny was the statement that he made about The Register's writers.

It reminded me so much of the posters on this very site that like to proclaim that they are MCSEs and that Windows and other MS software is the best and never has problems. In other words that "it's not Microsoft's fault but yours for not knowing how to use Windows because you're just a stupid long haired hacker criminal" or other variations of the same argumment.

And finally, a big hello to the Microsoft Certifiable Professional (we think that's what MCP stands for) who wrote telling us there was nothing wrong because it worked for him all weekend, and that therefore "the Register writers obviously have no idea on how to configure their own systems". Well fella, look who's talking...
In other words it's really silly to make that argument when Microsoft itself releases a statement saying basically, "Our shit's fucked up and it's our fault."

Just in case you missed it. Here is the link to the article both as hypertext (link-text) and as plain text (text you have to copy and paste into the location bar) for those that have stupid fantasies about fake links.

Hypertext
Windows Update glitches wider, deeper?

Plain Text

Note: Hopefully the above explanation serves well for readers, such as Martino Cortez, who for some reason just can't figure out the difference between hypertext and plain text.

You poor deluded bastard. You just have no idea, do you? Do you know what kind of loyal support it takes to keep an operation of Adequacy.org's scale going? Do you?

Why not go try it yourself, and see if you can muster the kind of following the O.S.M. has-- just O.S.M. alone. Forget about the others, Gibbons, I.A.T., Freddie. Just try wrap your mind around the scale of O.S.M.'s fame, and you will be dizzied, I can gurantee.

on my (UNHACKED) version of IE, I see a pleasant toolbar with user-friendly buttons that allow me to maneuver comfortably around the internet.

When I click on "My Favorites" I am presented with the option of coming here, going to the AOL home page, the Microsoft help pages or Learn The Net dot com. Interestingly, I see none of the numbers you have ILLEGALLY HACKED into those internet locations. Oh, and when I click on my name, I get my user info. Not a bunch of hacker codes and virus excrement.

So how long have you been on this same acid trip NAWL? Do you EVER sober up?

Click

Not Microsoft Approved!?!?

Do you even know what the Address Bar does? It allows you to type in the URL of the web site you want visit. By the way it's displyed by default.

Since you don't have the addres bar displyed I can only guess you press CRTL+O and the type in the URL.

It's perfectly legitimate. Like I said mine was displyed by default in every version of Windows I have install or was already install on the machine I bought from Gateway.

Do you even know what the Address Bar does?

It is a hacker tool used to illegally decode and display the IP token information taken from the internal v-chip.

It's perfectly legitimate. Like I said mine was displyed by default in every version of Windows I have install or was already install on the machine I bought from Gateway.

How many copies of this hacked version of Windows have you installed? I'm sure Microsoft would love to hear that you are converting their products into WARE-EZZ and illegally distributing them so you can access the My Documents folders of unsuspecting LICENSED users.

"It is a hacker tool used to illegally decode and display the IP token information taken from the internal v-chip."
Yes the microsoft v-chip is used as a simple distillator to over-clock the main CPU BIOS. It has a Microsoft approved certificate on it and emits a siren when data is stolen from it - such as IP stacks and API calls.

Evil hackers remove the siren using a hacker tool called "pair of pliars". Fortunately this tool should soon be banned under DMCA legislation.

The My Documents folder is actually owned by AOL and RIIA. Anything which goes in there falls under juristriction of the DMCA.

How to Search the Internet from the Address Bar in Internet Explorer

So I guess that means it's MS approved then huh?

Either you are timid about features you don't know about in Windows and simply write them off as hacker stuff or don't want to admit you were wrong.

Either way I could care less.

Yes osm you most certainly can save an htm, html, asp or whatever using numbers.

The following are for example purposes only. They are not meant to be visit. I'm not even sure they even exist.

Example:
something.html can also be saved as 1234.html

You very simply could provide a link to a subdirectory. If an index.html file exists in that directory it will display that

Example:
www.somewhere.com/here
or
www.somewhere.com/here/index.html

Possible "Hacks" For URLs w/ Numbers (none / 0) (#26)
by doofus on Thu Jan 17th, 2002 at 11:24:12 AM PST
OSM,

While in general you are correct, numbers CAN be used in website addresses if any one of the following techniques are employed (please note that these "hacks" may be illegal in your village/township/county/state/country.):

1. Rot13 the numbers first and then enter them in your official, US-government certified Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows web "browser."

2. Use "8 bit ASCII" characters instead of standard 7 bit characters. 7 bit characters are similar to 7-segment LED displays. 8 bit characters allow for more LED display shapes. After you've converted to 8 bit characters, enter the resulting web site address in your official, US-government certified Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows web "browser."

3. Base64 or MIME conversion can be used but is very unreliable. If you successfully convert a web site address using MIME enter the resulting address in your official, US-government certified Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows web "browser."

4. You can also "zip" the address to shorten it, thus allowing your official, US-government certified Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows web "browser" to process the address quickly. However, the possiblity remains that a number will still a part of th address. If this is the case, you must resort to option 1) above.

Hope this helps.

Windows update... (none / 0) (#2)
by Anonymous Reader on Wed Jan 16th, 2002 at 10:20:30 PM PST
You know the strange part about the Redhat updates is the extent they rely on publicaly subsidized "mirrors" in the .edu and .gov domains. Not only is this theft of public resources but it becomes outright dangerous for end users because Redhat did not even bother to sign the packages. I guess that is the magic of open source: you never know how many holes the software will open.

Please stop posting comments that contain IP-Tokens. You are just demonstrating to any script kiddies that visit how to obtain them.

If the hoardes of so-called 'skiddiots' figure out how to decode IP-Tokens, AOL will have to shut down the internet.

Thank you for your cooperation,

I know who you are, you are an illegal "hacker" who uses the Linux operating system.

if you do not refrain from stealing IP-Tokens from right thinking individuals, I shall have to report you to the FBI.

I am sure that as an illegal hacker, you read the illegal "e-zine" phrack. In that magazine they give detailed instructions on how to bypass AOLTimeWarners IP-Token protection system.

This will, in the end force AOLTimeWarner to close down their Internet for GOOD!

Do you want that on your head good sir?

The only time I mix my peas with my carrots is after consuming too much of our Lord Jesus Christ's blood.

I am glad that you are aware of the attempted corporate, capitalist take over of AOLTimeWarner Inc.

However, the continuing safety of millions of web surfers around the globe depend on AOLTimeWarners IP-Tokens to be secure.
So please kindly do your research in other fields.

Kind Regards,
