In censure of technological debate

Those of you who enjoy debating about computer related minutia should probably be made aware of a simple fact. Reasonable, intelligent, liberal people do not care about operating systems, computer architectures, or any other such nonsense.

That is correct, I do not care about either Linux or Windows, and neither should you. I do not care about Linux because I am not a criminal, and thus have no interest in the tools that criminals use to commit their foul acts. I feel a similar indifference toward lock picks, firearms, hundred dollar bills, and all other criminal paraphernalia.

I likewise do not care about Windows, just as I do not care about automobiles, telephones, or secretaries. I am content to make use of all of these items without feeling the need to constantly justify my decisions, as I have more important matters that require my attention.

If you are a criminal, I suppose that is your decision. Of course, I hope that you are found out, tried and imprisoned as soon as possible, but I recognize that it is not my decision to dissuade you from the ruinous course you have so recklessly chosen. However, you must surely realize that the lawbreaking lifestyle holds no appeal whatsoever to an upright, contributing citizen, and thus I will kindly thank you to stop publicly advocating lawlessness.

Finally, I would appeal to any sense of decency or propriety that the computer aficionados of Adequacy.org might possess. I respectfully encourage each of you to find more constructive topics of conversation than computer related drivel, and I appeal for a moratorium on criminal advocacy.

	but I say I totally, utterly and completely agree with you. Who the hell cares what OS you use, its just a tool for fucks sake! Some Linux Zealots think you should "learn" something using your computer, and I agree - but frankly I just don't give a shit about device drivers etc. I want to do what I want to do, not be sidetracked down tedious technological alleyways by an over-excited, under developed OS. BTW I am a coder, I do like to learn and tinker, but on MY TERMS, not just to get the freakin' audio working! oops now I'm talking about computers and OS's and shit I'm sorry I'll stop now

	qp; I agree with you. Wasting space on trivial matters such as which computer o/s is the best is pretty boring. People, use what you like, and let others do the same. You are right for your own choice. My question is why you associate Linux with criminality. I have upstanding, contributing citizen friends that work with that o/s, (because that is what their company chose), and they are not criminals. That type of thinking is how arguments get started. It is not logical to associate one o/s with a particular element in society, in my view. If that is what 9 out of 10 Crackers choose as their o/s of choice to break into the network of their neighborhood 7/11, fine with me. They don't understand cause and effect, and will most likely be caught, and pay for their actions against the agree to laws of this country.

	True Linux zealots do two things with their time. Commit crimes by using Linux's built-in hacker tools to steal other people's money, while pretending to be doing them a service. Hang out at online forums and post comments about their latest kernel recompile, or security holes in Oracle. It's important to note that they spend much more time trying to convince other hackers of how cool they are than on illegal hacking. So here's my proposition: Encourage technological debate! Make them spend more time posting more messages on more sites, that way they'll have less time to commit foul crimes in their parent's basements. When all hackers are permanently busy posting messages, the world will be a better, safer place.
