Okay, most of you here know that I have libertarian tendencies. In spite of this, I think I have found common ground with many of the members of this site.

It's our favorite subject: software piracy.

I can't pretend to have a funny article here--it would just be a slap in the face to Yoshi. But I've come to an important realization.

If Windows is so bad, then why pirate it at all? Also, if I hear one more geek talk about Microsoft as a "monopoly" I will freak out. For one, Wendy's is a fucking monopoly. Do you want to fuck with Dave Thomas? He's dead now, thanks alot. Is there anywhere else that serves old fashioned hamburgers? McDonald's is a monopoly too. Does BK have the Big Mac? It's called "competitive monopoly". They have a monopoly on their product, but there are other products that are similiar. Economics, see?

Now one of you geeks is going to talk about the phone company or something ridiculous like that. Even if the government didn't intervene, and AT&T started charging out the ass for phone calls, it would just bring us e-mail and instant messenger faster. See? Competition. There is only one monopoly: government.

Besides, what proposal do you 7331 d00dz have to bring down Microsoft? Force people to use Linux? Wow...that almost seem...anti-competitive.

If they every start making something so shitty that it becomes nearly unusable, then there will be a new player in the operating system market. Just quit throwing around that 'M' word like so much confetti. Dicknose.

Now you might start complaining about licensing agreements and what not--I have another bit of bad news for you. If a company says that you have to shell out $1,000 for their widget, you have to pay that much if you want it. If they say that you have to come into the store with alligator clamps on your nipples, you'll do it if you want it. Do you understand? You cannot dictate what they sell to you, unless you do it with your money. Company A has widget X to sell, and they determine what terms are involved. You either agree to it, or you don't.

That is all.

Wonderful article. Your insight into the hypocritical world of Linix zealots is dead on. The truth is, the Communists in the Linix community continuously complain about their disenfranchisement with the American economy. To them, a free-market, hard-work-pays-off system isn't in Marx's credo. Thus, they set out to change it. Not by fair means, mind you, competition is the American way - they don't do it that way. Rather, they want to force you into using something else. Force Microsoft to remove their innovations from their own product, and hell, even force you to use another email client. The truth is, reason and logic is not a trait amongst Linix zealots, so they set out to redefine whatever doesn't meet their approval.
