Many of you will have heard of the near-fatal tragedy which befell the President of the free world yesterday afternoon as, watching American football, he took a few minutes rest from what was no doubt a long day of reading background briefing papers to prepare him for the week ahead.

I simply want to use this space to state the obvious; our thoughts, here in the UK, are with you Mr President. No doubt your able lieutenant, our Prime Minister, will have already conveyed our best wishes to you.

Indeed, there is no small concern over here for those adequates who must also be feeling rather shaken that, at a time when strong leadership is needed more than ever, the world nearly lost its leader. Although I can hardly dare to imagine the event, at least there is some small comfort in the fact that, had Our Leader died, he would have gone in an all-American way.

Get well soon, Mr President.

The bin Laden estate was found to have recently invested in the savoury snack treat industry.

In Nairobi, "terrorchip training camps" were discovered, where tubes of Pringles were trained to kill men by popping their lids at extremely high pressures, and twisted corn snacks were developing the skills necessary to rapidly unravel while they were being swallowed.
