 Time for festive Holiday tunes!

That paragon of virute, Mr. Seventypercent, recently suggested that we need patriotic Christmas songs to ease our troubled hearts in this time of sorrow and suffering. I couldn't agree more.

With that in mind I present to you our first attempt. Please feel free to join in the festivities and offer up your own ditties to warm our souls during this season of Peace and Love.

Flying through the air
Where the crew is very safe
O'er Tora Bora
Laughing as we strafe
Bombs on Muslims rain
Making George Bush right
What fun it is to deliver pain
With our cluster bombs tonight

Chorus:
Tora Bora Tora Bora
Bombing all the way
Oh what fun it is to make
Them al Qaeda pay
Tora Bora Tora Bora
Bombing all the way
Ramadan will not stop us
We'll bomb you every day

A day or two ago
The Northerners took a bribe
And Burhanuddin Rabbani
Was seated by our side
Afghanis starved and wan
Misfortune seems their lot
Ruled by the Taliban
We'll shoot them on the spot

(chorus)

A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went into the caves
And the Muslims ran pell-mell
A prisoner staggered by
Shackled and in chains
Said, "John Walker am I"
But our conscience felt no strains

(chorus)

Now the ground is red
With blood from old and young
Rape the girls as we go along
And sing this bombing song
Just bet on bumbling Bush
Backed by Pentagon brass
Launch B-2 bombers and kaboom!
We're gonna kick your fuckin' ass

(chorus)

Silent Night (5.00 / 2) (#1)
by 4th Horse on Sat Dec 22nd, 2001 at 04:00:39 AM PST
Violent night, burning night,
Load of bombs, tracers bright
Stashed in caves some cowering turds,
That burnt innocents as they worked,
Twist in scattered pieces.
Rot in scattered heaps.

Violent night, burning night,
Liberals whine at the sight,
Bombs rain down from heaven afar,
Howling jets scream alleluia;
Monsters eat payback tonight!
Monsters eat payback tonight!

Violent night, burning night,
"Martyrs" quake at the sight,
Frag clusters drop from thy lofty space,
The dawn reveals Al Qaeda paste,
Jesus, Lord, were they insane?
Jesus, Lord, were they insane?

Oh... (5.00 / 2) (#2)
by Lint on Sat Dec 22nd, 2001 at 04:38:44 AM PST
little town of Islamabad
We made a lot of claims
That we would fight a common foe
Who've hurt and killed and maimed

We probably didn't tell you
When we dropped all that food
That mister Osama Bin Laden
Was a hired CIA goon

The terrorists were jealous of us
And our homeland, just and free
How else could we defend it
Our precious liberty?

The loss of innocent Americans
Made us see the light
So now we'll make the globe calls
And act on "Might is Right".

After all, we aren't the only ones
Who've suffered through the years
At the hands of awful terrorists
Who've caused a million tears.

But now that they've hit our country
We'll make sure that they pay
With bombs and blasts and mortar shells
The true American Way!

The poor Afghan women
Suffering through heartache for a decade
Too bad that wasn't as important
As the Presidential dealings with OPEC

Never mind that this war has gone on for years
It's good that we jumped in when we did
So maybe Afghanistan can stop suffering
Just as soon as we figure out where Osama is

Not particularly, um, patriotic, perhaps... (5.00 / 1) (#3)
by chloedancer on Sat Dec 22nd, 2001 at 01:47:33 PM PST
but here's a couple of samples of lyrics from the Guitar Outlaws Christmas Chorale that I participate in each year:

Well, I've got a fifth of Dickel in my guitar case
And a quarter-ounce in my shoe...
I've got nothing to do for an hour or two
So I'll meet you at the Zoo...

And:

After the trials and joys of just living
After you've given all that's worth giving
After the road and after the songs
May you find a place where you belong

So they may not be very topical given the current "War on Terrorism", but they do more for me than anything else posted here.

And, for what it's worth, the song Stranger in a Strange Land by Leon Russell is my all-time favorite XMas tune; I'm lucky it's part of the show, too.

Here's the lyrics link for the previously noted Stranger in a Strange Land. It fits.

Possible coda at the end? (none / 0) (#5)
by chloedancer on Mon Dec 24th, 2001 at 08:34:02 AM PST
Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you
With heart and soul...

[George Harrison, Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth), (c) 1973.]

Take hold of my hand,
That I might understand you
Won't you please, oh won't you please

Give me love, give me love give me peace on Earth. :)

Someday.
