 Americans are arrogant and rude!

 Author:  Topic:  Posted:

 Comments:
As a German, I am somewhat offended by the continual arrogant attitude of Americans toward the rest of the world. It's strange that a country with a higher infant mortality rate than Thailand has such an attitude.
First of all, American arrogance is what caused the 9/11 attacks. You Americans were meddling too much with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Finally the oppressed Arabs said "Enough!" and bombed you. And then, after the attacks, you had the guts to deploy forces to Afganistan, angering the Arabs even more! When will you ever learn!!

And boy! Your sorry government services! It's hard to believe that an industrialized country doesn't even provide basic healthcare to it's citizens. Here in Europe, everone is assured excellent healthcare, no matter what their income. We Europeans don't have to worry about our HMO's covering necesarry medical treatments such as colonoscopies. And then your welfare system! In America, your glorious land of plenty, if you can't find a job in two years, then your're out on the streets! In Europe, we take care of our needy. Also, may I add that poverty levels in Europe are much lower than in the U.S.

I hate it when you gas-guzzling SUV driving Americans get so patriotic and belittle us. Europe is far superior to America, whether you like it or not.

If you had bothered to read the FAQ you would realise that this stupid "Godwin's law" has no place on an intelligent discussion site.

To put it another way, there is NO HIDING PLACE FOR NAZIS at adequacy.org. If you are a Nazi, or use Nazi-like tactics in a discussion, you will be called on it.

I thank you for this Stalinist reply. The glorious lessons learned at this woefully adequate site are worth two in the bush and three in the drainage culvert, and are therefore adequately invaluble to me.

I wouldn't never want to make a member of the glorious oligarchy angry with me, so I have taken steps to ensure that this type of incident never occurs again. By printing out the FAQ and laminating it as my new placemat, I will be able to indoctrinate myself with the party line while eating my bowl of cheerios each and every morning.

I thank you for this fair warning, knowing full well the execution squad is primed and waiting for my next mistake. You do a service to your gender.

Health care (none / 0) (#17)
by The Mad Scientist on Fri Jul 5th, 2002 at 10:02:03 AM PST
Health care is affordable if you're a virtuous hard worker. But how can you be a virtuous hard worker when you get sick? If you have the bad luck of getting something longer-term, you can find yourself losing your job, consequently your health insurance, consequently your health care coverage, consequently your health care. But it is ok, because as you aren't a virtuous hard worker anymore you don't have right to health care.

Both words are acceptable. As snopes.com says when defining the word golf, "Our modern determination to have only one correct spelling for each word would have struck our ancestors as hilariously pedantic and priggish. The norm for them was any number of spellings for common terms, provided those written representations validly reflected the pronounciation of the word". Now be friends.

Oh, woe is I that I do not recieve a free handgun with my McDonalds™ Happy Meal™. Perhaps I should move to Yankland and take advantage of the fact I can buy an AK-47 assault rifle in a child's sweet shop.

While it's pointless to compare guns and cars, driving licenses and shotgun licenses are pretty much the same -- fill in the form, get a character witness to vouch for you, and if no-one objects, off you go.

You also know fine that there are very few legal gun shops in the UK, and most of them are "country sports" shops, which usually do have respect for the sanctity of human life, which is what I was talking about.

Do you mean "civilization"? Also, "jerk-offs" is a commonly accepted insult; "yanks" is too abstract. You don't want to make people think too hard when you're insulting them -- it defeats the purpose.

> child's sweet shop

Do you mean a "candy store"? That's what they're called. I assume that's what you mean, unless you're writing from Thailand.

Work on these problems, and your posts might get rated higher. I mean this advice in a friendly way; please don't get all prissy (as you British are wont to do.)

No country is perfectly good or perfectly evil. That doesn't mean that we throw our standards out the window and have a free love gay hippie sex-in.

Maybe that's how things work in your liberalist fantasy world, but I don't think Idi Amin is going to stop eating Ugandans just because some pot-smoking draft-dodger says so. Talking about the issues is necessarily controversial. Otherwise they wouldn't be issues, they would be the raw material for gay hippie sex-ins.

I now own a German automobile based simply on the sagacity and wonderfulness of your post. I realize that our country lags behind the civilized world in culture, music, the arts, and economy, but we're trying! We've only been around for 226 years. Hell, even your mother is older than that, and we all know how imperfect she is.

She loves the cock, though! And there's nothing like fisting porn from Germany. Plus, your national socialists were quite at the "cutting edge." And let's not forget your wonderful politics given that our politics are so fucked up.

I'll be there shortly. Beer and sausages! Large women and surly, fist-in-the-air youths! Unlimited snideness on jam-packed autobahns! Bad techno! David Hasselhoff! Gays! Rampant drug abuse! Alcoholism the likes of which even Chicago hasn't seen! And obnoxious, leather pant wearing, smoking, broken car driving, six cent haircut having uppity assholes with bad teeth and worse complexions screaming about how bad the US is! I'm so there! Hell yeah! Long live deutschland! Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles!

Look at his last name. That Hasselhoff guy is definitely a German plant. Millions of Germans rigged the ratings and the marketing to make it appear as though he was an American idol. In fact, he was a cover for a reich. Thankfully, The Folks In Charge took over when they realized that the latest episode was all about how KITT takes on the American Army with a perfect race of blonde freaks while Hasselhoff sings everything by Karl Orf.

I am an American, born and raised. However, I have to agree that it is indeed our own fault that we got attacked. The US is constantly sticking its nose in foreign affairs where it may not belong. The massacres in Beirut, the Somolian and Bosnian campaigns, the Vietnam War, etc. You help one group of people defeat another, and you're going to piss off the defeated group. Initially the attack on the US was a shock, but was there really anything suprising about it? Shouldn't have we expected this for many years? It was only a matter of time until those that we angered struck back.

The fact is that the world is like a giant family and someones got to be the big boss. i hate to seem arogant ( and no im not american im dutch born living in the carribean ) but it is very debateable over who are currently the superpowers in the world... as far as i can see its the US in the lead... It's ironic how NATO and the UN were so happy to help in the Terroism war... perhaps those hundreds of thousands of MRI packs that the USA dropped for the afghan civilians was arogant as well??? And Tony Blair didnt seem to want to help much at all.... HA... The world is arogant in many ways its the US that is trying to help balance it. Everyone trys to pick sides... the US helps israel so be it ... in my opinion it's time to unite and do some thing good
