Do you need that illegal hacker OS Linux removed from your machine and the US government-approved OS Windows XP installed instead?

I'm sure you can find a 12 year old in your neighborhood to do that simple task for you. Adequacy editors are probably much too busy to help you unless you are willing to pay travel expenses.

Very strong OS background with lots of VMS, Solaris, HP/UX, FreeBSD, Lunix (7 years +) and Windows NT/2000 experience. Even stronger RDMS skills with Microsoft SQL Server 4.21 - 2000 and Oracle 7.2 - 8i.

Lots of Perl + Apache web development experience too.

I think the problem is that we simply know too much about computers. The editors of Adequacy.org are fully aware of the failings of the Lunix operating system (worse than both FreeBSD and Windows 2000), the failings of Unix (a giant step backwards in Operating Systems research and an apology is in order for putting null terminated strings in C). We know all about computers.

You, however, don't. Quite frankly, you Lunix fanboys don't know shit. You're cruising along thinking you're badder than God just because you know more about computers than your parents.

That's just sad.

Although I don't agree with about 99% of what you say, I know you actually know something about computers. I was referring more to elenchos, given his conviction that ping and telnet are completely illegal and only used by hackers (in the negative sense).

...the request was for persons who actually have some working knowledge of course. It was not for persons, such as yourself, which fantasy worlds and suffer from paranoid delusions complete with IP Tokens.

Perhaps when you can actually discuss a topic without sounding like an idiot maybe they'll consider you. I would put it to you, that it is you who don't know very much. Most modern NICs have options in the hardware to silently drop packets based on MAC address. Some of the more up to date ones can do it by IP address. The software tells the NIC which packets to drop and they get dropped. Which part of that don't you understand ?

The packet still reaches the NIC, so although the packet doesn't reach further than that the bandwidth is still used. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Operating systems are here only for last few decades. Also, only a handful of the Illuminati is able to fully appreciate the inner beauty of some of them, and the inner beauty of technology itself - which makes even the best art look pale and uninteresting.

my daytime job is supporting very large and fast printers using NT and Solaris front ends, in heterogeneous networking environments. We have Macs and Windows machines acting as print clients, and I even installed Linux on one box, just in case we have a call on it (after 2+ years, no escalations on Linux).

However, there is a plethora of computer advice columns on the internet, and I fail to see how my two cents would do anything more than lower the signal to noise ratio, thus, I let my able co-editors write computer columns.

Now, I did notice a lack of spirituality sites on the web, a lack of columns on caring for your soul. Thus, my calling here.
