to AOL. Now, please note that this is for practical reasons rather than any actual desire to use AOL above any other ISP.

I have read some of your posts and it appears that the devil has first claim, unless of course you ask for God's forgiveness and stop supporting the comission of sin.

I'm considering selling my soul to AOL.

Except [...] it appears that the devil has first claim

That's what he said, wasn't it?

I shouldn't even bother asking, but... (none / 0) (#3)

why is buying a product from a company 'selling your soul'? That's like saying you sold your soul to Tesco or Safeway when you bought groceries, or you sold your soul to Best Buy or Radio Shack when you bought a new TV. It just doesn't make any sense.

that given the choice, I'd never choose AOL over another British ISP like Telewest or NTL (depending on region). Unfortunately, if I want an internet connection to my room in the hall of residence AOL is the only choice. It's the only dialup that seems to work over the Ericsson Student Connect phone network we have here. Which is pathetic.

What about uklinux.net? [nt] (none / 0) (#6)

Because I want an unmetered dialup. (none / 0) (#7)

For some reason, no-one on this Ericsson network can dial 0808 numbers, and no-one else seems to know of any other ISPs other than AOL that have an 0800 dialup. I've tried UKLinux before, it was a good service, but local call charges don't quite exist on Student Connect.

"Selling my soul" means I'm basically accepting a far inferior product for a higher price, willingly.
