So, suppose you figured out a way to hack Adequacy.org and post a diary as "Anonymous Reader".

So, we close the hole. Not because we feel oh-so threatened about it, but because a couple of childish fools want to follow suit. As a side effect of closing the hole, you the exploiter find out that you can't post anymore. Instead of emailing one of us, you whine about it in a different site, which we might or might not read frequently. (I'd suggest the answer "not" in the case of a relevant Adequacy editor.) To which you, luckily enough, manage to get a reply that, despite the wholly inadequate description of the problem, gives the fix, and requests more information in email in case the problem persists. What do you do?
Certainly not try out the proposed fix right away and email if it doesn't work. You accuse Adequacy of "conspiring" against you. Later, though, you do try the fix and find out it works. Whether this results in a red face is not known, but seems doubtful considering the following. In the meantime, an Adequacy admin, looking through referrer logs, finds an eaxct mirror of an Adequacy diary, with no information anywhere indicating who is doing the mirroring, and sends off a standard notice to the webmaster@ address of the site with the mirror. This, unbeknownst to the admin (and how would he know? There is no fucking contact info!), is your diary and your site. A site for which there is no discernible contact information (oh, sorry if I didn't spend half a fucking hour looking for it. Put it at the bottom of every fucking page, we have better things to do than read your site). After trying a pair of webmaster@ addresses, the admin gives up trying to guess it and emails the technical contact from the whois record, who forwards you the email. So, what is the rational course of action? To respond to the email, or to whine and moan about it in somebody's diary? If you are a raving delusional paranoid freak, you'd do the latter right? Lessons: we are not out to get you. Your sense of self-importance is obviously inflated. More importantly, respond to emails that we fucking send you instead of whining about it. As it stands, you have reproduced the Adequacy.org page design without permission. You may start by emailing our legal address (it's at the bottom of every page in our site! How convenient! Why don't you try it on your site!) and asking under what conditions you could reproduce it for your mirror of your diary. |
