Is it possible to find out how many shares ESR has in LNUX today?

some research (none / 0) (#1)

It appears that ESR has not sold any LNUX shares according to this, and one would expect that any sales by a board member would be recorded.

Assuming that he still has around 150,000 shares of LNUX, that means that at today's market value they are worth around US$170k. He could have got US$6m on 2000-06-07, which appears to have been the earliest time he could have sold them.

Not bad for someone who hasn't been employed since (none / 0) (#2)

I know I could use a hundred thousand quid right about now.

Could you, now? (none / 0) (#3)

It's a pity, then, that you wouldn't see half that if you sold securities valued at $US 170k.

Hell, it wouldn't even amount to a substantial down payment on a nice house, let alone outright purchase.

How do these paupers manage to find their way into the Adequacy?

when your an intelectual giant.

Every night I go sleep confident that, by right of superior intelect, I am better than 99.9% of the population.

money is [NOT] that significant when you[']r[e] an intel[l]ectual giant.

You've convinced me it's better to be rich and thin.

I'm also thin. (none / 0) (#9)

I'm a thin thinker.

(A normal man would be afraid to admit something like that but I'm confident in my intellectuality)

Is this onanism? (none / 0) (#7)

Relating back to another diary entry about how Adequacy's detractors say this is not a useful site to learn anything, I was wondering about a new word I learned recently. Since I learned it here, at Adequacy, I was wondering if any of you could answer my question.

Is this onanism?
I'm wealthy today because my efforts to spread the idea of open source on behalf of that community helped galvanize the business world, and earned the respect and the trust of a lot of hackers.

Definitely. (5.00 / 1) (#8)

Open source and onanism go together like whipped cream and perverted intimate relations.
