 Slashdot comment of the year

In relation to a story about Transmeta

Would Transmeta get all this hoopla if Linus didn't work there?

I am pretty certain they wouldn't get as much hoopla here if Linus didn't work there. Linus could run a company selling gas chambers to neo-Nazi groups and the crowd here would be talking up how the code determining gas mixtures was open-source.

Please mod this up if you have any moderation points. Cracked me up totally.

But "comment of the year"? Hardly. Try reading at -1 for once -- there is an amazing amount of creative energy unleashed there. Some of the posts are borderline genius.

And some of them are good but this one really tickled my fancy. Linus, Goodwins Law, Slashdot sheep like mentality. All in one short reply...

This may fall into a grey area (none / 0) (#2)

as it does advocate what I believed is called trolling, but at a different website than advocacy. I just thoughr I would mention that.

not even close to trolling (none / 0) (#4)

How could this even be considered a troll? The author obviously believes it is true.

I'd call it flamebait myself. Everyone knows that Slashdot is really just a front for the linux-world-domination fanatics. If you don't believe me, just post a comment telling the truth about linux and microsoft. They'll bite your head off in record time.

As a child I wanted to know everything. Now I miss my ignorance.

Actually, they won't (none / 0) (#6)

They'll mod you down to -1, two guys will post comments entitled "TROLL MOD DOWN NOW!" and everyone else will ignore you. The hive mind expels damaging information.
