I'm often asked to speak on various topics. Sometimes it is a Computer Science-related subject, such as how we are managing risk and optimizing functionality in a new use for the Java language that we are developing. Other times they want to know what I think about the aesthetic theories expressed by a particualar author's work, or what my take on the current geopolitical situation is. And afterwards there is usually a question and answer session. If it is a group of adults, they usually try to stay on the topic for a while before moving into other areas, namely the thing they really wanted to ask me about. With kids of course, they just go right past the boring stuff and ask me straight out.
