 Is this a troll?

I mean this comment I just posted. No, it can't be. It's pretty sarcastic, and takes reductio ad absurdum kind of far, but that doesn't make it an evil and destructive commnet, does it?

Of course, everyone seemed to think my green weenies comment was serious too. Just how far do you have to distort an argument to make sure they know they are being mocked?

As you might guess, I think the Adequacy editorial board needs to come out really strongly in favor of keeping this dangerous scofflaw Dmitry Sklyarov in jail where he belongs. The last thing we need is a bunch of Russian hackers running loose with a freakin' license to step all over United States LAW!!!

You get the idea.

In a similar vein, I think Anonymous Reader is by far the worst troll at Adequacy. And a sloppy, transparent troll at that. Like this, for example: first a pretty realisic appraisal of the NRA. Maybe a little incendiary, but it keeps to the facts. Next a diametrically opposite opinion using the same account! How obvious can you get? Well, even more obvious, as you can see. He replies again, 180 degrees opposed, again using as Anonymous Reader.

What a dumb troll! Hey! Set up another account if you are going to troll with two different points of view. Geeze.

I don't see anything at all wrong with the comment you posted.

Clearly, though, you are right in spotting Anonymous Reader as a troll. But I think the problem is even worse than int appears. I think multiple people might actually be posting as Anonymous Reader. Now, I haven't checked the server logs yet to be certain, so take this all with a grain of salt.

But if the account is really used by multiple people, the question I have is "Why?" It's simple enough to make an account. Why go to all this trouble to have an obviously staged argument but not even be willing to take the time to make an extra account!

I don't understand at all.
