After reading the opening panegyric and the first principal section, I think I understand tkatchev a lot better. Anyone else read it? Mr. Tkatchev, comments?

This is wonderful stuff. Thank Heavens fo texts online.

I'm reading that, too! See? The Panegyric Upon Abraham is da shizznit (I also liked the part about boiled calf's head)! The edition I'm reading has a lot of biographical notes that show how much S.K. was laying his heart open in writing that book. I haven't hit the meaty philosophical stuff, yet. I'm still in the Preliminary Expectoration.

Does the book ramble on so much in real life, or is this just a crappy translation? My eyes hurt from trying to read it. Too many run-on sentences, it feels like I'm proofreading some high-school student's essay.

I highly recommend this terse volume of philosophy.

I haven't thought about the teleological suspension of the ethical since...well, since I had to read it for Intellectual History in undergrad. Ook. Maybe I'll print it out and take it with me for some light Thanksgiving holiday reading.

So, Ottawa, dude? Is the Rideau frozen yet or is it too early?

Kierkegaard & loginadequacy (none / 0) (#5)

I only knew that Kierkegaard ran away from his own engagement. When he returned and decided to get married but it was too late. THAT sets the tone of all his writings in those later solitary years. It's sort of "loginadequacy" just like what i am aspiring to do here.
