In the 80s there was a highly controversial punk band that upset the establishment and changed the British music scene forever.

But where are they now ?

Splodgenessabounds. Perhaps best known for "Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps please" this band have been plugging away in front of a largely indifferent public for many years. They now have a new album - "The Artful Splodger" and their timeless classic "Splodgenessabounds" has been re-released.

With live gigs lined up through the summer, now is an exciting time to be a Splodgenessabounds fan. Indeed.

but it seems the public at Adequacy are largely indifferent too! Obviously not enough mention of operating systems or god to whet their appetite.
Cheers for the tip though bud, I've ordered my copy! How comes you're so fond of '2 Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps Please' then? does it remind you of all those smoky London pubs you've been hanging out in? & are you a fan of the Buzzcocks? another top band of that era.

I have always enjoyed "new wave" music. (none / 0) (#2)

And yes I like the Buzzcocks, also X-Ray-Spex, Rezillos and a whole load of other english "new wave" bands. Of course, nowadays we have Green Day, Blink 182 and Sum41 to remind us of the good old days. Another example of America doing something better than the Brits...

Ah, but can you Rave as well as us yet? (none / 0) (#3)

we've taken drug fuelled Disco hedonism to new heights! You're right though, the pop charts over here are a bit moribund right now. David Bowie summed it up recently, he likened the British pop charts to 'cruise ship entertainment'.
I can't say as I've heard of Rezillos, so you're ahead of me there. I've not heard much of the 'Nu Metal' bands you mention either. I was a big fan of the Buthole Surfers about 10 years ago, are they still knocking about? Pure concentrated chaos! Anyone else out there got the 'Electro' album they did under the name 'Jackofficers'?

To be honest, raves aren't even barely reaching the levels of depravity that disco achieved. Considering the drug of choice in the dance clubs of today is so much weaker than the cocaine that fuelled the disco ere, this is hardly surprising. When it comes to wild dancing, free expression, amazing people and fantastic sex, disco scored higher in all four categories. Raves are like a hangover at a high school prom held in the Gap: Mildly drugged teenagers expressing their individuality through wearing orange T-shirts and swaying in time. Thank God they give hand jobs to each other in the chill-out room, or the whole thing would be incomprehensible.

Apparently You will find fire breathing nude goddesses dancing on stage. Strapping six pack stomached men without tan lines pulsating all around your body. You will find the most beautiful of people in the world stroking and rubbing and licking the most most beautiful of people in the world. Anything goes in Ibiza and we do mean anything.

I take my hat off to the Spanish, they do know how to party. I was in Barcelona last summer & got caught up in the maelstrom of some saint's day - one huge beach party, with far too many fireworks flying round to be safe.
I'd love to see that mad tomato fight, anyone know where that happpens? I wouldn't want to witness the 'Running the Bull' one though. looks feckin' dangerous.
