I got the same thing. I'm tellin' ya, I'm pleased as punch. Having grown up on a healthy diet of John Woo and old World War II movies, I'm a bit of a gun-nut, and have amassed large amounts of useless knowledge about various tools of destruction. The G11 is one of my faves.
The H&K G11 is basically the cutting edge of squad-level support weaponry. It's unusual bullpup design allows for ease of use and decreased kick, and German draftees reported an accuracy increase of up to 50 percent in field tests.
It fires 4.7 mm caseless rounds- a cartridge of propellant with a bullet buried inside. Because of the space savings, each clip can hold up to 45 rounds, and the weapon itself holds three separate clips (135 bullets). Because of the nature of the caseless round, nothing is ejected, making the weapon reliable in extreme conditions, and also allowed for easier maintenance due to the lack of dirt.
The weapon itself is a marvel of German engineering. In 3 round burst mode it fires at 2000 rpm, and in full auto fires in 600 rpm, at a practical range of 300 meters, with the range maxing out at 600 meters. It has excellent penetration, and has an ammunition failure rate of 1/485 (out of 60,000 bullets fired continuously), with a minimum cook-off rate of 150 rounds at 60 rpm. All this in a package that is about 75 cm (30 in.) in length, and 4.5 kg (9 lbs. or so) fully loaded.
God. I'm such a geek. -----
