I just wanted to stake my claim on this particular thread like I do with almost all others.

I also want to say that Natlie Portman isn't particularly charming, but this may get me deleted as a troller. I'm willing to risk it though, because as regular adequacy.org readers know I will fight my hardest to make sure everyone here learns the truth as I happen to see it at that particular moment in space-time.

Hmmm. I dunno. She just doesn't do it for me. She's kind of cute, but nothing special.

Now a REAL woman like Gwen Stefani (of No Doubt)...
If I see a picture of her, I lose my train of thought. Completely. I stop mid-sentence. When the picture is removed, I have to ask others around me what I was saying. Gwen Stefani is a goddess.

Frankly, I think blondes look cheap and trashy. I'll take a petite, curvy red-head with a bad temper over a blonde any day of the week.

That being said, I find Natalie Portman to be an amazing actress. I'd much rather see a woman that isn't my personal ideal of feminine perfection turn in an excellent acting performance than watch the modern equivalent of Helen of Troy turn in a bad one.

Have you seen Leon? The girl can act.

Leon (aka The Professional) (3.00 / 1) (#6)
by sputnik on Tue Jul 24th, 2001 at 05:25:22 PM PST
I have seen Leon. I found it disturbing, and most highly enjoyable. Rarely are movies produced that do not rely on standard Hollywood ploys to make a point or provoke an emotion.
I second the statement that Natalie Portman is an excellent actress. I was merely expressing my surprise that Miss Portman is such an object of desire, when she does not, in my opinion, measure up in that respect.
I also hesitate to say she was at her most "charming" in Leon. While her acting in Leon is almost certainly her best, it reminds me too much of the paedophilia we hear reports of in our public schools. I will take my women of legal age, thank you.

In my experience that's all of them.

Just throwing in my 2 cents here, but have any of you seen Beautiful Girls? Don't get me wrong, but I love Leon, and Portman does a fantastic job in that movie, but she is so much more charming in Beautiful Girls. Her connection with Tim Hutton is fantastic, and I swear it made me sad to see him leave, just because, you know, she is jail bait.

Have guts man, wait the 5 years til she is legal.

She's 20 years old. That's legal where I live.
