Well, I tried very hard to get a domain and web hosting registered for the Pagan Student Alliance here at the university. Unfortunantly, vhosting.com (the people who host K5) decided to make the process difficult. Right now I've signed up (and presumably paid) for the hosting, but I don't have a domain name due to the fact that I simply didn't know what to put under "DNS Information". I'm sure this is one of those times when there's just some very simple fact that I'm missing, but whatever it is, I can't seem to grasp it. |

Either way, the hosting is a-go, and so I'll be able to start the PSA site back up. That's a really good thing, since it was one of the primary draws for us the first year I took the site over, and even though we lost the password and haven't updated the site in almost a year, I still get e-mail from people about it. Now, with an improved knowledge of web publishing, plenty of time to sit in front of the computer here at work, a vast array of tools at my disposal, from digital cameras to scanners to video editors, and Dreamweaver 4.0 on my iMac, the site should be even better. Our old hosting, which came from the University, was good. There was full CGI, unlimited disk space and bandwidth, the whole deal. This other host will suck in that regard, but then again, I really doubt we'll use up the 8 gigs a month of traffic or the 200 megs of disk space, and actually having a domain name will be great. So basically, the web site is going to be the masthead of our multi-media awareness campaign we'll be launching. Well, okay, multi-media is going a little bit far, but we will by flyering the campus to announce out meetings, we'll be running a table at least twice a week in the area of campus where student organizations run tables and get information out to people. There's even a new "religion" reporter for the student newspaper, who's very interested in talking to us for the religion page that will be in the paper once a week... So, that's a whole lot of geek talk right there, and I'm sure some of you are shaking your heads. Well, I was going to put this on K5, and write something else here, but K5 seems to be on the fritz right now... So, I worked out and managed to read another 50 pages of 'Stiffed' yesterday. It felt really good to actually accompolish something. Tonight I hope to finish another 50 pages, work out some more, finish watching the Mists of Avalon, and start up on the PSA's new web site. Unfortunantly, I know that not all of that is going to happen, and something is going to get cut. The web site probably won't, because I'm feeling gung-ho about it. The workout probably won't, because I had a big lunch today, and I really am dedicated to losing weight. That leaves the reading and Mists of Avalon. I have a feeling the reading is going to lose, simply because it takes up the most time of all the activities. Ah well, I can read more tommorrow... So now, I need to start considering the design of the new site. This will involve raiding the old site, and doing enough work to keep me away from the web-logs for a while. So, you probably won't hear from me for a while... |
