<p>This is the strongest chance the Democrats have had in a long time. The fact that they don't have to go up against Gramm's huge warchest, that the Republican funds are already spread pretty thin because so many seats are up, there are a lot of strong liberal candidates, and because all the Democrats are so pissed about what happened in 2000, I think this is the best chance that the Democrats have had in Texas in quite a while.</p><p>On the other hand, the current Governor, Rick Perry, went to Washington and is conspiring with Bush to attempt to get Grahm to retire right now, so that Perry can appoint a hand-picked Republican who can then run as an incumbant.</p>
