- Recently, thanks to a friend of mine, I joined the general mailing list for our local student radio station. Student radio ranks just below the International Socialists as far as the most left-centric organization on campus. Things have remained rather calm on the list so far, with a few flame-ups, but this evening something interesting got sent. A pacifist petition.
I've read it over, and except for a few minor points (they're overbroad with their use of weapons they don't want used for retaliation) I generally agree with it. Now, knowing this, I would be inclined to sign the petition. On the other hand, I understand that online petitions have little to no effect on anything in the real world. Also, I am interested in a political career eventually, and something like could very well come back to haunt me. So, do I sign on and promote a position that I believe is morally right, or do I accept futility and the preservation of my own image and not sign? (Oh yea, the link is at: http://home.uchicago.edu/~dhpicker/petition) - I received an e-mail in Cryllic letters yesterday. I'm almost certain it's spam, but I'm really interested in what it could possibly say. I want to know, but of course I can't cut/paste the text into Babblefish, becase my browser won't support Cryllic letters for text-entry. What should I do?
- Tonight, at 12:00EST (11:00 my time) there is, around the nation, a huge magick-working going on. I'll begin participating (many have been for the last two nights.) The objective is wise and rational responce to the terrorism, or at least a non-extreamist one.
- You know, I can't help but think of that The Fish Goes Away article on K5. Remember how it talked about the darker edge of the Aquarian age? About how it can be unpredictable, eccentric, etc. It kind of makes you think, and while I'm certainly not one to swallow Astrology hook, line, and sinker, I know there's at least something beind it, and I can't help now but to image what kind of world this new age will bring...
