Recent tragic events have caused an outbreak of extreme volatility in the financial markets, as global capital flows into safe havens.

Nathan Mayer Rothschild's (1776 - 1836)timeless investment advice is as valid today as it ever was.

Political uncertainty and the threat of war all conspire to drive down US equity prices and increase the prices of so-called safe commodities such as oil and gold or government backed securities like bonds and T-notes.

As a small investor, you have probably lost a small fortune recently due to the inevitable burst of the dot-com bubble. However, the events in New York City are an opportunity to quickly recoup some of those losses, at the same time investing in America's future, and the future of our free, capitalist way of life.

When the New York Equity markets re-open on Monday 17th September there is expected to be a sharp sell-off in what has been described by the Financial Times of London as a knee jerk reaction to recent events.

Bearing in mind the advice of NM Rothschild (one of the most successful investors the world has seen) America's small investors should steel themselves on Monday morning, and BUY LIKE CRAZY. It does not really matter what you buy. In fact, since stock market analysis is next to useless, you might do well to simply buy into some kind of sector based mutual fund, or a small selection of 5 10 blue-chips such as Microsoft, IBM, General Electric etc

You might want to concentrate on areas which have huge potential growth, such as nanotechnology, genetics, pharmaceuticals and high tech. On the other hand, you might feel more comfortable with corporations which actually produce physical goods, such as Starbuck's, Nike and McDonald's.

Whichever stock-picking strategy you decide upon, there is unlikely to be a better buying opportunity for some time. With this in mind, I urge you to go out there and make as much profit as you can. Remember, you may not personally be able to go to Afganistan or Iraq or Syria or Pakistan or Iran or Saudi Arabia or Libya or the Sudan to fight hand to hand with the 'holy warriors' of the religion-crazed enemy. However by judicious use of your personal capital you can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your country's armed forces and mount your own capitalist 'Jihad' to deny the Islamic terrorists their victory.

Remember. Success is the best form of revenge.

	They want our country to shutdown. They want us to live in fear. They want us to not think about money. Investing in the stock market is investing in our country. If these attacks have minimal effect on the stock market, it only proves the strength of our country. Investing at a time like this is prudent for the investor and good for the economy. We all should do the same to show our support.

	I mean, it's like grave robbing or something. I don't think America should grind to a standstill or anything, but a week of respectful inactivity would show a sense of decency, and plus give all those IT people a chance to test their failover systems etc etc. I fear that if we start trading on Monday, the rest of the world will think we are a bunch of moneygrabbing robots with no human feelings. A week would not be so long to wait would it ? After all lots of people have lost their lives.

	You have a point. But doesn't that make it all the more important to stop and reflect ? I mean, for many Americans the pursuit of the almighty buck takes precedence over everything else, even their religion. This lust for material riches is possibly at the root of global resentment towards us. I mean, we are consuming 75% of the worlds energy, and we support fascist dictatorships around the world. Instead of rushing headlong into an orgy of retaliatory violence, perhaps its time we took our constitution international. Since the truths of our constitution are self-evident, perhaps it is time that the rest of the world were given the opportunity to have Freedom. Instead of opressing countries, the US should try and liberate them by implementing our constitution (by force if absolutely nescessary). Once these peoples (Iraqis, Afghanis, etc) have had a taste of true (US-style) freedom, they will not want to go back to their primative tribal belief systems. I'm not talking about cultural imperialism, just about giving 3rd world nations the benefit of our 'field-tested' constitution, they need to have proper democracy and stop opressing women and religions minorities. Islam notwithstanding, these people's rulers are ruthless despots. There's nothing in the koran that says 'fly a suicide mission against those that disagree with you'. On the other hand, the Intifada would progress to its logical (end of Israel as a state) conclusion a lot faster if the Palestinians were given the right to keep and bear arms. Think about it. Why should we deprive other countries of the freedoms we enjoy ? It's hardly fair is it ? As advanced nations we owe it to the less advanced nations to show them the way forward. Regardless of religion. The Muslims had a very advanced civilization going on in Spain, which Europe benefitted greatly from, and in 1829, British government in India, outlawed SUTEE as a criminal offense. If you tried to do that now, someone would crawl out of the woodwork and whinge about cultural imperialism. The way I see it, it should be the aim of civilized culture to try and overthrow babaric primative culture (Taliban etc). They are not really Muslims, they are more like the lunatic bible thumper TV evangelist neo nazis. Most of them are illiterate, and they certainly don't understand Arabic, this much is obvious. Anyway, the USA should have a go at following in the footsteps of the last great Empire (the British) and try civilizing instead of destabilizing. Its cheaper and more humane. Culture is not sacred. Sure people will get upset and claim that their 500-year old tradition must not be interfered with. But its a bit like hanging onto your old 386 PC because it still works. Its a bit stupid really.

	This kind of policy is exactly why we're hated. This kind of 21st century Manifest Destiny. Now, if the government is illegit, (ie: seizure of power), then it deserves to fall, but if it is elected by the people, then it should stay and we have no say about it, unless they're calling for mass killings, etc etc. Other than that, taking over the world and pressing our way of life is ethnocentric and wrong. 	You accuse me of being ethnocentric, when I merely want to abolish the barbaric inhumane practices of stupidly backward tribal cultures in pariah states ? Should the Northern nigerian muslims be allowed to get away with babarism in the name of political correctness ? These people are the national socialists of the modern era. You cannot see it, because you are blinded by political correctness. No doubt if Mr Hitler proposed his anti-semetic genocide today you would sit back and allow it, because it was a part of Germanic Culture, and we wouldn't want to be ethnocentric. The subjugation of not only Christianity, but also Hinduism, Bhuddism, Judaism, and any other much more mature religions which do not match up to their (relativly new) belief system ! I think I can reasonably object to that without being accused of ethnocentrism. It's time western Muslims were honest about the extremist peasants in their midsts and stopped tacitly supporting them from the cosy comfort of a Western democracy. They exist, and they are a real threat to society. They need to be educated and brought up to speed with what is decent behaviour in the modern world. And if they don't like it, tough shit, their mutilation and oppression of women cannot continue forever. 	Firstly, I said, we should stop them if they violate international law, most of what you said, killings and so forth, fell under that. Now, I do not advocate any of the things you mentioned, the savage treatment of others in Nigeria and other countries. In fact, these are areas where the leaders were NOT chosen by the people. Now, most Muslims in the US are shocked and horrified by this. I know this because there are lots of them in my comp sci classes. Now, Islam is 700 years old, much older than the ideas of western democracy. Now, I've always have been calling for the overthrow of the Taliban: Its illegitmate, show me the people's mandate for them. They violated various rights of people of other religions. They destroyed statues for Islam. Now, if you didn't know better, MOST extremists want the West to leave the Mid-east alone, thats all. But after, they most likely would go after the world. 	I've been hearing rumors that "war bonds" are being sold now. Might be a bit offensive, but, buying these bonds, and you can't lose. To get a profit, we have to win. 	In one sense, you're right. In another, the US never stopped issuing series E bonds, the bonds that were sold during WW2. They still sold up until 1980. The war bonds thing is just an ad campaign, of sorts. In any case, government bonds sold during war are a losing bet. They get creamed by inflation. War is, after all, an inflationary activity. They're safer than keeping your money in cash, but stocks are still a better investment.
