Many prominent news publications feature famous crossword puzzles every day. Unfortunately, most of these crossword puzzles feature rather liberal biases, and expect readers to know all sorts of leftist historical revisionism and intellectual gobbledygook in order to successfully complete them. At Adequacy.org, we are committed to bringing our readers fair and balanced material, regardless of whether we are doing a hard-hitting news article or an entertaining crossword puzzle.

With that, we are pleased to present the Adequacy.org Commonsense Crossword Puzzle!

BTW there are thousands of loggers in the pacific northwest who won't be able to put food on the table if we don't soon get over this fascination with 'trees' and 'owls.'

Tough. If there's no demand for tree logging, keeping a dead industry running isn't going to help anyone.

I suppose the loggers who haven't saved and still need jobs could get unskilled work; e.g. MCSE server administration. As most of them wear womens clothing, the better looking ones could become catalogue models.

Except (none / 0) (#13)
by Right Hand Man on Tue Mar 5th, 2002 at 10:57:29 AM PST
As one who has worked in the forestry industry I can assure you that there is a huge demand for logging, huge. I think Mr. Waltman was cautioning against allowing loggers to be thrown out of their jobs not by lack of demand for their services but by a reaction to the irrational misleading information spread by the militant environmental movement.

Luckily the right thinking American public appears to be able to see through their lies. The demand for various forest products, from peeler grade lumber to pulp, remains strong.

I tried to put "Linux" in 22 across, but it didn't fit because 20 down would have to be "hi".

However, I got the answer eventually. 22 across is "MSDOS" and 20 down is "Yo". How good of adequacy to embrace multiculturalism.

But unfortunately you don't possess the common sense to realize that you incorrectly spelled Lunix.

I am unlikely to be threatened by lunix hackers and their C64s, as I don't have any VIC-20 web servers, or TRS-80 databases. You're so behind the times that it's just not funny. Fortune 500 corporations use fast and powerful servers to run their business-critical applications. They don't use children's toys, no matter how pretty they are.

Now, I realise there is a dangerous new threat posed by UNIX hackers, but with regards to the crossword, a five-letter word is needed. So "UNIX" won't do, and neither will "BSD", "FREEBSD", "NETBSD", "OPENBSD" nor "WINDOWS", which is all the dangerous hacker operating systems I can think of.

You're so behind the times that it's just not funny.

I hope you're not speaking as a Linux advocate here, cause that would be too rich. I dont see why you should take credit for advances in hardware. At the end of the day, you can run Lunix on 32 bit processors and call it Linux, but that's not progress, it's a kludge on top of an even older kludge known as UNIX.

Set your system date to the year 2002.

Let me guess, "ignorance is strength", right?

You are a cute little liberalist dictator, you know that? Probably because you are so impotent when it comes down to bringing your totalitarian perversities to life.

actually adequacy.org wants you to put "lunix" as 22 and "hi" for 20. lunix is not an operating system. lunix run is a modified version of Linux. adequacy.org is "confused" and thinks that lunix is the operating system. lunix, redhat, debian, and BSD are all modified version of Linux. linux is the core file. linux is not an illegal OS. that also is incorrect. had linux not been free, adequacy.org could have been suied for slander (i think it's "liable", because slander is spoken and liable is written). Linux is supposed to be used to break away from the Microsoft operation systems. Linux gives a use full power on over their computers. They can handle their hardware anyway they wish. In contrast to Microsoft operating systems, you can only do what Microsoft lets you do. I run a microsoft Operation system. Microsoft's goal is to create easy to use operating systems while limiting full use of the system. Linux is not that easy to use but gives more power to users. Just trying to clarify.

...to be a kilted drunkard. Nothing could quite show my bravery, stamina, resilience and independence more than wearing a couple of wraps of hairy wool in sub-zero temperatures, dyed red with sassenach's blood. Being drunk, other than being the secret of keeping warm while wearing a kilt, is indicative of my good nature. I have been a kilted drunkard on many a Hogmanany, and I shall be a kilted drunkard on my wedding day.

Furthermore, every person in Scotland was pleased for the Prince of Darkness himself to pronounce Scotland as "a dark land" when the Bank of Scotland wouldn't lend him money. It's a crying shame we can't kick Brian Souter out of the country - the liberals won't let us.

I might have an east coast bias, but two of my favourites Scots works are McGonagall's Tay Bridge Disaster and Lewis Grassic Gibbon's Sunset Song. Certainly, there are other, better known authors, but you've probably all read their stuff already. For the modern stuff, Oor Wullie and The Broons goes without saying, but I also quite like Iain (M.) Banks, in particular The Bridge and Wasp Factory. I haven't read his sci-fi stuff. Irvine can go stick himself up his scag-raddled erse.

Well, until I finish this I won't be able to think of myself as Adequate, so I'd better get back to it.
