Some people just don't seem to learn. Others are simply not able to grasp the big picture. Is it wrong of me to get frustrated with them? Is it wrong of them not to understand?

I can accept ignorance, since without it, we'd never learn anything. But to be stupid, well, that's unacceptable. I think of stupidity as a deadly mix of ignorance with arrogance. Not knowing something is one thing, but to seem like you're proud of it is something else.
Maybe I just don't get it. I mean, really... we're all people (except for the really talented talking dogs, I suppose), and we go through life observing things, and as we observe, we learn. How is it that some people have this knack for basically ignoring what they see? Maybe their brains do not work properly? Neuroscience isn't my forte (see - opportunity to learn), but you never know. And its not even a matter of "intelligence". People who are thought of as "unintelligent" can still learn, maybe not as quickly or as thoroughly, but they still learn. Perhaps stupid people are actually just really damned stubborn and unfortunately content with their lack of knowledge and understanding. Oh well. Such is life, I suppose. |
